
Getting Ready for Group Ages 4-6

Getting Ready for Group is a program aimed at providing learners with the skills they need to thrive in a group environment. The goals of this group will include:
- Following Individual, Group and Multi-step Instructions
- Following Group Rules
- Asking for Help
- Tolerating a Change in Schedule and Waiting
- Remaining with the Group
- Earning and Cashing in Tokens for a Prize
- Asking for a Break and Appropriately Using a Break Space
Concepts will be initially introduced in a smaller group setting and then generalized to a larger group as skills are acquired.
A Behaviour Plan will be created for each participant that will outline their learning goals for the group. Additionally, a progress review will be provided at the end of group to summarize outcomes.
Who is Eligible for Getting Ready for Group?
This group is currently being offered to children aged 4-6 years with an ASD diagnosis. All participants must wear a mask and pass the screening tool in order to attend the group.
Commitment to Getting Ready for Group
Children will attend 1.5 hours a day for one week (5 days). In addition, caregivers to attend the last 15 minutes of each group. Weekly challenges are required to be completed at home with caregiver support. Caregiver handouts will be provided each week describing the skills learned and tips to practice at home.

Ages 4-6: Week of July 10th – 14th, 2023 (9:00-10:30AM)
Registration: Please email ffsintake@maltbycentre.ca. Intake applications will be distributed to all interested parties at a later date, to help determine eligibility and appropriateness for this group. If this group is not the best fit for you and your child, you will be contacted further with a rationale, and other possible options.
Cost: $450 Payment must be received in full prior to the start of group.

Requirements: To access this group, your child/youth requires an ASD diagnosis and must be within the identified age range.
