POSITION / CLASSIFICATION: MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST -YWHO SUPPORT

ONE (1) REGULAR FULL-TIME POSITION

We are inviting applications for this position in accordance with the collective agreement. This position will commence once the selection process has been completed.

Job Summary: Working with the YWHO team, the Mental Health Therapist provides assessment and case management services to youth and their families to address mental health problems that are impacting on their functioning at home, in school and/or in the community. Within their scope of practice, the incumbent also provides supports and interventions utilizing evidence-informed therapeutic approaches and clinical practices. This position provides individual and program consultation to community programs serving youth. In addition, provide triage and intervention to, youth and families, as well as clinical expertise around delivery of effective brief mental health services. This position will require traveling to other sites in our catchment area to support their youth programming. This position may be required to participate in After Hours On-Call coverage.

Reporting Relationship: Shawn Lowe, Clinical Program Manager

Salary: $ 35.20 – 39.92 hourly over 6 years

Hours of Work:  Normal weekly hours of work for full-time are thirty-six and one quarter (36.25) hours

Normal daily hours of work shall be seven and one quarter (7.25) hours per day with an unpaid lunch period of forty-five (45) minutes

Flexible work hours are as described in Article 19.11 of the collective agreement

Location: Kingston

Qualifications:  Bachelor of Social Work or other related undergraduate program (e.g. psychology) or Master’s Degree in a regulated profession OR

Child and Youth Care Diploma or Diploma in a related field with additional formal training in family and individual counselling

Formal training in psychotherapy and family and individual counselling with children and youth, utilizing a variety of therapeutic approaches and clinical practices

Three years’ experience working with children and youth with mental health issues that affect their functioning in areas such as home, school or the community

Current unrestricted registration with a regulatory college to perform the controlled act of psychotherapy (e.g. Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Social Work) and deemed competent to perform psychotherapy in accordance with the relevant college’s practice guidelines and/or standards is required French Language proficiency, written and verbal an asset
