The Maltby Centre is now offering a series of online workshops for caregivers. These workshops are designed to help parents understand concepts related to Applied Behaviour Analysis, access resources and increase overall parent capacity.
Hidden Curriculum is an online workshop for parents and caregivers. This workshop refers to the set of rules or guidelines that often are not directly taught but are assumed to be known. This curriculum contains items that affect social interactions, school performance, and sometimes health and well-being. The curriculum also includes unspoken rules, slang, metaphors, and body language. This workshop includes practical tips for teaching these hidden social needs to children and youth and stresses the importance of making these a part of everyday life.
As a result of participating in this workshop, you will be able to:
1. Define the Hidden Curriculum in relation to your child or youth and family.
2. Identify and describe areas of the Hidden Curriculum that may be helpful to teach your child or youth in the home and community settings.
3. Apply the strategies and tools necessary to teach the Hidden Curriculum to your child or youth.
