This social skills group is an opportunity for children ages 3-4 years to spend time with peers and for parents/caregivers to learn the basics of setting up social opportunities as well as how to teach positive social skills to their children with ASD. There will be activities for the children in the Autism Centre with concurrent parent training to enhance social interactions for the children participating. A one-hour social skills consult will be offered to each family upon completion of the group.
As a result of participating parents and caregivers will be able to:
– Arrange social opportunities for their children
– Prompt their children to engage socially
– Reinforce appropriate social behaviour
– Pair and teach peer pairing
