Learning Together: An Introduction to ABA

Autism Services is offering a new series of workshops for caregivers.

A series of four, three-hour sessions introduces participants to Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and practical positive strategies to help their children learn new behaviours and skills. We cover the basics of defining, selecting, and measuring behaviour using reinforcement, prompting and breaking tasks down into component steps. Participants engage in activities and exercises to develop their skills in order to support their child’s development. All families are encouraged to participate in this series. In addition, families have the opportunity to purchase coaching sessions with the presenters in order to guide the caregivers in applying their learning.

As a result of participating in this series of workshops, you will be able to:

  1. Identify realistic learning goals for your child.
  2. Develop simple strategies to teach skills and to increase desired behaviours, while decreasing undesired behaviours.
  3. Measure and monitor progress through practical data collection.
  4. Change and adjust strategies to promote positive changes in behaviour and skills.

Wednesdays: May 6, 13, 20, & 27 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Light refreshments will be provided.
