Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities

If you are a parent or guardian who is caring for a child with a severe disability you may be able to get financial support through ACSD. This program provides financial support for eligible families to cover some of the extra costs of caring for a child who has a severe disability.

Easter Seals Incontinence Grant

The Incontinence Supplies Grant is an annual grant, made in two payments, provided to families to offset some of the costs for diapers and certain supplies for incontinence. This program is funded and eligibility criteria is set by the Ministry of Health. Easter Seals Ontario administers the program on behalf of the Ministry of Health.

Disability Tax Credit

The DTC helps reduce the income tax that people with physical or mental impairments, or their supporting family members, may have to pay. It aims to offset some of the costs related to the impairment.

Child Disability Benefit

The child disability benefit (CDB) is a tax-free monthly payment made to families who care for a child under age 18 with a severe and prolonged impairment in physical or mental functions.

A registered disability savings plan (RDSP) is a savings plan intended to help an individual who is approved to receive the disability tax credit (DTC) to save for their long-term financial security.

Jordan’s Principle

If you are a caregiver for an Indigenous or First Nations child, you may qualify for funding from Jordan’s Principle. This funding source provides Indigenous & First Nations children with access to products, services and supports.

Access2Card is for people of all ages and types of permanent disabilities who require the assistance of a support person to attend, the card allows for the support person to attend any of the partner venues free of charge The Access2Card costs $20 for a 3-year card or $30 for a 5-year card

Each year Autism Ontario accepts applications for one-to-one march break and summer support worker reimbursement funds to help cover the cost of support workers at march break and summer camp.
