
Autism Behavioural Classroom (ABC Classroom) Program – Update
Autism, Press ReleaseThe ABC Classroom Program for autistic children focuses on foundational learning skills such as group instruction, literacy, essential school behaviours. and functional communication. Depending on your child’s needs, the ABC Program could be the stepping-stone to help solidify these pre-requisite learning skills. This program is offered free of charge to learners between 4-8 years of age, who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, and have an OAP number (required). More information can be found HERE.
The ABC Classroom Program runs Monday-Wednesday-Friday from 8:30am-2:30pm at Rideau Heights Public School. It is staffed with 1 Limestone District Schoolboard Classroom Teacher and 1 Educational Assistant, and 3 Maltby Centre Autism Service Therapists with clinical oversight by 1 Maltby Centre Behaviour Analyst.
The fall/winter semester for September 2024 through January 2025 is now full. We will start accepting applications for the winter/spring semester on September 17th, 2024 and will close applications on November 9th, 2024. A seat in the classroom is based on clinical assessment, group dynamics, group goals, and date/time of referral.
